Steven "Steve" Russell Yancey Chumbler is a native of nearby Gaylesville, Alabama. Steve joined the firm as an associate in 2023 and was named partner in 2025. Steve's practice focuses heavily on real estate transactions, probate and estate administration, and estate planning. Primarily, Steve handles complex real estate transactions, including residential and commercial purchases and sales, title review and resolution, financing matters, and closings.
Steve graduated from Darlington School in 2007. He attended the University of Alabama where he graduated with a B.A. in History and Political Science. Steve received his law degree from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 2014.
After finishing law school, Steve worked in private practice in Montgomery, Alabama before working as a Deputy District Attorney for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office where he gained litigation experience in prosecuting felony cases, misdemeanor cases and civil forfeitures.
He is committed to making sure his clients receive effective and professional representation, and that all parties involved in the real estate transaction, from borrowers, sellers, lenders, to the real estate agents, all receive superior service at every step of the real estate transaction.
Steve is a graduate of Leadership Rome and Leadership Darlington. Steve is involved locally with several civic and volunteer groups including the Rome Rotary Club and currently serves on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity-Coosa Valley. Steve is extremely passionate about his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Steve is married to Lauren Chumbler, a fellow native of Rome. They have two children, Brooks (4) and Mary Harper (1), along with their spoiled dogs, Miller and Sipowicz "Sipp".
